VA Appraisal Repairs

As a military-focused REALTOR® and Military Relocation Professional, I often deal with misconceptions regarding the VA loan product.

One of the biggest misconceptions is that VA appraisals have a lot of expensive repairs tied to them for a seller. The truth is that VA appraisals only require repairs to ensure the house is safe, sound, and sanitary which are repairs that should be addressed during the whole home inspection anyway. Repairs can be made or paid for by the seller or the veteran.

Additionally, if the veteran disagrees that the defect is unsafe, unsound or unsanitary, they can work with their lender to send a request to the VA to waive the repair requirement. In 2021, 69% of repair request waivers were granted.

If your house is safe, sound, and sanitary, a VA buyer is a great option to consider.
